Tips & Tricks from the Simio Team

When seeking to apply logic to multiple instances of the same Object Type, the ‘Properties’ tab under ‘Project Home’ is a useful tool to access all instances in a single location. As opposed to applying logic one-by-one, this function allows logic to be applied to objects holistically.

Check out this month’s release notes

The Simio Development and Product teams have been hard at work since the last release. Our goal is to continuously identify and deliver functionality that will expand the depth and breadth of the Simio platform, improve the quality of our products, and enhance the overall user experience. Below are highlights about some of the new functionality in the upcoming release due out later this month.

  • Demand Driven Material Requirements Planning (DDMRP) with Example (RPS, Partner, and Academic Editions Only): This feature also known as “DDMRP”, revolves around strategically placed stock positions called buffers that decouple demand from supply. These inventory buffers are comprised of three color-coded zones: Green, Yellow, and Red. Simio now includes four DDMRP calculators: Average Daily Usage, Decoupled Lead Times, Buffer Zone Sizes, and Qualified Spike Demand.
  • Source Control Enhancements: Simio now allows processes to be saved into their individual XML files to facilitate collaboration between modelers working on the same process by providing separate files for add-on processes. There is also an option to reduce the amount of information written in the save history, improving efficiency in source control management.
  • Data Table Categorization: Users can assign categories to data tables for easier organization and navigation.
  • Network Element Enhancements – Shortest Paths: Four new properties have been added to the Network element to enhance modeling capabilities, allowing for more complex network setups.
  • Material Usage Log Expression Evaluation Enhancements: Custom expression columns can now access various attributes and table values related to material usage.
  • Network Element Enhancements: Several user-requested features have been added, including setting network membership via data tables and exposing the Global Network.

We are also releasing new SimBits like Business Graphics Animation, Efficient Search Step Practices, Network Element Shortest Paths, and Experiment with Data Configurations. For more new release features and information, check out our website.

Simio for DDMRP Design, Implementation, and Operation

November 8th, 2023 at 11:00am EST

DDMRP is a methodology that Effectively Manages Variability, Promotes & Protects Flow inside the factory as well as for the extended supply chain (supplier to customer). This webinar will show the DDMRP specific features in Simio:

  • DDMRP calculators to calculate the average daily usage, the decoupled lead times, the buffer zone sizes as well as the qualified spike demand.
  • DDMRP project template to jumpstart your DDMRP project.
  • Detailed example to show the DDMRP features in action.
  • Experimentation with DDMRP example to evaluate alternative scenarios.
