Simio Scoop April 2024

Simio 17 is now available for download!

Newest major release includes exciting new features

At Simio, we are always working to provide more out-of-the-box value to our customers and to meet the demands of current real-world operational challenges – and the Simio 17 major release delivers, bringing you these exciting updates:

  • Path Planner Element: automatically solves the deadlock avoidance problem – one of the most difficult challenges faced when using bi-directional travel paths with multiple vehicles
  • Network Element: when combined with the Path Planner Element, allows easy modeling of sophisticated multi-vehicle allocation and path planning algorithms, facilitating performance estimation and optimization of large-scale multi-vehicle systems (such as AGV and AMR-based material handling systems)
  • Visual & Hierarchy Enhancements:
    • Node-based animated 3D symbols
    • Node external animation
    • Access tables in sub-models
    • Auto-create enhancement

Ready to download Simio 17? Read the full release notes and download it here: Full Release Notes.

Want to see these new features in action? Check out a demonstration of these features and more in the Simio Sync24 presentation detailing the Simio 17 release updates here: Watch Video Here.

Maintaining and Debugging Custom Libraries

Thursday, June 13th, 2024 at 11:00AM EDT (3:00 UTC)

This session will focus on how to maintain a custom library. Learn how to create and use custom libraries in a project along with tools to debug your custom library behavior. In this demonstration, we will show how to update a project when changes are made to a custom library. We will also review how to check your custom object is behaving as expected.

Did we see you at LogiMAT?

Simio International Partner attended in Stuttgart March 19-21

LogiMAT Stuttgart is a conference held in Germany that showcases intrasolutions from hardware, such as robotics and advanced conveyor systems, to software that analyzes each step of the processes, and seeks to improve the entirety of a system. Simio International Partner ATS Prozessoptimierung attended LogiMAT and demonstrated how Simio handles process improvements on the manufacturing floor and the warehouse alike. If you attended the conference, we hope that you met with Markus at ATS to learn how Simio can be applied to all process challenges, such as identifying bottlenecks, justifying CAPEX projects, or cutting costs.

Hope to see you next year!

Tips & Tricks from the Simio Team

Reference Pivot Grid for Building Expressions

In Simio 17.261, the latest major release, users have the ability to now see the relationships that exist between data tables in a model. Using Primary and Foreign Keys, the Table Schema Viewer details what rows of information can be found across the tables. In “SchedulingDiscretePartProduction”, an example model available for review to all modelers, we are able to see how the manufacturing data is related to each other to execute the model properly and produce a Production Schedule.
