Position:
Join Simio’s Consulting Services team as an intern/co-op, where you will work closely with our consultants to build custom simulations and Digital Twins that help solve our largest customers’ complex operational challenges. In this role, you will assist in building data workflows, troubleshooting and testing model logic, and creating customer documentation and training materials. Your responsibilities will include cleaning and transforming customer data, testing process logic and model performance, suggesting improvements to models and logic, and developing data visualizations.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a four-year, accredited university
- Currently studying: Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field
- Successful completion of an undergraduate or graduate course in Discrete Event Simulation, or experience with projects applying Discrete Event Simulation techniques, preferably using Simio
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with a variety of computer productivity applications and engineering tools; knowledge of SQL, Python, and/or R is a plus
- Experience building visualizations with Power BI or similar applications is a plus
- Ability to work independently, effectively organizing tasks and deliverables
- Ability to collaborate effectively as a team member and deliver assigned tasks on time
- Self-starter with a strong desire to learn new skills and explore advanced topics in Digital Twin simulation
Helpful, but not required:
- Prior experience with a consulting firm and/or in a customer-facing role
- Academic coursework and/or practical experience in manufacturing operations or related fields
This internship is a paid position requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week. Compensation will be commensurate with the level of education and experience. Specific dates and duration are flexible based on school terms. We prefer candidates who can work on-site at Simio’s headquarters in Sewickley, PA (just outside Pittsburgh) or in the Louisville, KY area.
