Winter Simulation 2024 Begins this Weekend!

Annual Winter Simulation Conference is December 15-18 in Orlando, FL

Simio is proud to return as a Platinum sponsor for the 2024 Winter Simulation Conference, titled “Simulation for the Imagination Age: Unlocking the Value of Imagination with Simulation,” being held Sunday December 15 through Wednesday December 18, 2024, in Orlando, Florida.

This year’s conference aims to highlight the value of simulation for imagination work, that is, the work of system designers, creators, and innovators. The advent of modern simulation models and Digital Twins, powered by AI/ML, the Internet of Things, and advances in statistics and optimization, can provide unprecedented analytical insights for designing, planning, and operating complex systems. These sophisticated modeling and analysis tools promise to shift the economic value of human capital from analysis and rationality to creativity and imagination.

We encourage you to stop by our booth, and the Simio team will be participating in the following Winter Simulation events:

  • DDMRP Workshop on Sun, Dec 15th at 12:30-2:30pm
  • Intro to Simio Workshop on Sun, Dec 15th at 3:00-5:00pm

Tips & Tricks from the Simio Team

Introducing Node Locations

Sprint 270, a new feature has been added to define the location of Nodes that are associated with an Object. Up until now, users had the ability to auto-create an Object’s X/Y/Z location via data table, but did not have control over locating the Nodes with the Object.

When using an Object Property and setting the value of Default Value Instantiation to ‘AutoCreateInstance’, a new Property will appear in the dropdown for Initial Physical Characteristics that allows users to specify the location of any associated to that Object that is being created.

Inside the Property, Node instances can be specified along with their corresponding X/Y/Z locations. In this example, table relationships are used to define the Node locations in a separate table, in this case inside “TblNodeLocations”.

Using a String Property for the column named “TblNodeLocations.Nodes”, as well as a Foreign Key Property to link Nodes back to a given Object, the X/Y/Z location of associated Nodes can be defined, and the changes will take shape in the Facility View.
